TEMOIGNAGE D'ESTIME
Nathalie De Vos, Anvers Belgique. Age 27 ans. Visite guidé en group du Senegal avec Doudou : Mars 2014
Doudou was a crucial part of the reason why our holiday in Senegal was absolutely unforgettable.
My cousin that lives in Dakar immediately gave us his number when he heard we were looking for a guide, stating that Doudou was THE way to go.
We travelled around the country for a week together in a group composed of 4 people spending every day and evening together as a group and giving us time to get to know him.
From day 1 I could tell that he was the real deal (with so many people offering to be our guide I was sceptical and fearful of having picked a guide that didn’t really know what he was doing, you never know). Working in the tourism industry myself I tend to look at every detail.
What made me trust him: Doudou not only knows his country, he knows and understands the essence of his country and Senegalese people. If there is something he doesn’t know he will say it yet get back to you once he has found out.
What made me like him as a customer: He took time to listen to us and analyse each of us as individuals. With that he was able to effortlessly create an itinerary that suited our needs and this in the entire duration of the trip. Without breaking a sweat we could change our plans in the middle of the day, and he would be ready with an alternative.
We had a limited budget for this holiday yet he managed to find creative ways to cut our costs. On location he would help with accommodation that fell into our budget, which I truly appreciated.
What made me like him as a person: Doudou is an intelligent man that loves his country and wants to see it evolve and grow. He tries to educate people and make them aware of their surroundings by, for example, coming up with Projects on ecological awareness in his neighbourhood. He is also genuinely patient, kind and real. By real I mean he is a no-nonsense type of guy.
By the time your journey is over, you will know Senegal for what it really is, not for what a tourist is supposed to see in it according to the tourist board or government. That is what differentiates a tourist from a traveller and that is what will bring you that unique unforgettable feeling that you really saw mama Africa in it’s true glory.
Thank you Doudou for the good care!
